Visiting in West Virginia
Last week I spent several days in Shinnston with my mother. I also met with Phyllis Moore, doyenne of West Virginia literature, at the lovely Bridgeport Public Library. Phyllis knows more than I guess anyone about the literature of West Virginia, and she's presently working on a presentation for the West Virginia Writers Conference on Coming of Age Novels. I was mostly in West Virginia to check on my mother and odds and ends of her business. We had a good time walking around giving cookies to the neighborhood dogs. When I took my morning walk, I counted fifteen barking at me, including the absolutely enormous Brutus:
